When my mother asked me, ”what do you want to be when you grow up,” I used to move my fingers and make movements as if typing on a keyboard. My mother also said that she would become a banker, which was the profession of those times. Of course, there were very few occupations performed using computers at that time.
When I was little, I used to make pictures of political presidents with pencils and paints and make them talk with speech balloons. I even used to do imitations of them. At the same time, I used to paint the landscapes I saw when I went to the Sunday with my mother. All the Sunday shoppers and marketeers have cigarettes in their mouths 🙂 Believe me, I don’t know why 🙂
My childhood was intertwined with art. I am the daughter of a painter-stylist mother and an architect father. My best memories when I was little were if the house I lived in wasn’t always intertwined with art. The biggest reasons I chose my profession were the fact that art is a profession that my family is passionately attached to.
In my head, I always wanted to enter the sports academy and live in the future intertwined with sports. In those years, the vocational high school painting department was separated into 3 separate branches. Graphic Design was the one that attracted me the most with the guidance of my family. By choosing this department with the impulse of my genes, I have also taken my first step into the profession of my future. In those years, we were almost educated at the university level because this department was just opened. During my internship period, it was instrumental in me really loving this profession. After the internship ended, like every adolescent, I unconsciously started to be put into this branch and that branch in terms of choosing a profession. I have had experiences such as theater, performing arts (folk dances). But in the end, I decided on Graphic Design and quickly moved on with my life.
in the part of choosing my profession in 1997, I was in that story where I realized how important family is and my soul supported it diligently. Right in the middle and all by myself. Like many experiences I have learned by observing. Come on, a newbie right in the middle of many Creative Directors, Art Directors, Copywriters and Graphic designers, where the words ”welcome newbie” cause tinnitus around. I was just trying to Decipher what graphic design meant, and I started to feel the benefit of doing a lot of observations at that time. anyone who knows the agencies in 1999 knows. As at present, we had no artificial intelligence or image sites at our disposal. We used to scan and use high quality photos from catalogs. For the slightest vector pattern, we would search for a number from a floppy disk and pull it out of it. (It appeared at my age).
Since I mentioned my life summary, now we can come to the main issue…:)
Aaannnddd that sound that came suddenly “1 click”…
Since I was a novice at the beginning of the story, I was saying that this word “one click” is definitely a very important thing, every time I swiped that arrow to the right and left, let’s enlarge it by 1 click, I witnessed how the person said this with confidence, and I was doing what they said right away without question. This “one click story” approved by everyone started at that time.
I was constantly hearing this word along with the internship experience. I have often heard this phrase sometimes from the client, sometimes from the boss, sometimes from the art directors. But every time I hear the word ”click”, I now question myself and say what is this click, and my inquiries, which have become almost obsessive, have started growing inside me.
In the years when I started to practice my profession and prove myself, I have started to use this word in every field in my profession, let alone this “One notch”. I have even witnessed some people develop this word by saying “One notch” :))
there is a huge question mark that 1 cram contains in my mind.
What is this One notch?
Is there any unit of measurement?
Cm? Mmm?
How much % do we do when we say grow by one notch ?
Or is your one-click the same as my one notch?
How many arrow strokes are there in one notch?
should I press the right arrow 1 time or 2 times?
What if it’s a click, I think it’s 5 right arrow touches,
Or if my click is 5 mm right arrow direction,
when you say take 1 click up, is the one above ready for it?
when you say 1 click enlarge, if I enlarge by 10%? But if you mean 5%.
when you say 1 click reduce, my click will do that reduction according to what?
Does it have an algorithm?
how many mm is one notch ?
Does anyone know the answer?
